LE PERSPECTIVE / THE STORY

Nooks has secured a $500 million financing commitment from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund to expand its AI sales business. The deal supports its push to deploy AI agents across the sales process.

This is not a conventional $500 million venture round. The fund finances customer acquisition and takes a share of the returns that spending generates, rather than buying an equity stake in Nooks.

The Important Funding Distinction
A $500 million commitment is not the same as $500 million in fresh equity or a new valuation. General Catalyst’s model links its return to the customers the funded sales spending brings in, making growth performance the test.

From Dialer to Revenue Platform

Founded in 2020 by CEO Dan Lee, CPO Rohan Suri and CTO Nikhil Cheerla, Nooks began by automating outbound sales. It now has more than 2,000 customers, including Notion, Replit and Glean. Nooks says annual recurring revenue is on track to nearly triple by year-end, although it has not shared the current figure.

The Revenue Agent Platform pushes beyond cold outreach into inbound leads, deal management, customer expansion and coaching. Human sellers and AI agents share account context across those workflows.

A Different Way to Finance Growth

General Catalyst describes its Customer Value strategy as a way to fund sales and marketing after a company has found product-market fit. Returns are linked to the value created by the acquired customers, with a cap, rather than equity ownership.

That distinction matters. Nooks can put more resources behind acquiring customers while preserving equity for its founders and existing investors. But that spending still needs to generate durable revenue.

The Bigger Sales Bet

Nooks previously raised a $43 million Series B led by Kleiner Perkins in 2024, bringing its disclosed equity funding at the time to $70 million. The new structure backs its ambition to grow into a broader revenue operating system.

The real test is whether AI agents can consistently move deals forward, not merely help sales teams send more emails or make more calls.
