Three months after Elon Musk promised a full-length, AI-made movie version of The Odyssey, the first piece has arrived. On October 23, Grok Imagine, xAI's AI video tool, posted a roughly seven-minute "Episode 1," calling it the start of an Odyssey series.
It was made with production company Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, and almost everything on screen was generated by AI.

Two very different ways to make an epic
The episode lands in the shadow of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which came out in July. Nolan's film was largely a feat of practical filmmaking, shot across six countries with a cast and crew in the thousands, and it has been a major box office success. Nolan has called himself a "techno-skeptic."
So the same story now exists in two forms. One was built by thousands of people on real locations. The other was generated by an AI model, guided by a studio partner and a director.
