LE PERSPECTIVE / THE STORY

Freshworks has acquired Robusta Dev to bring AI-powered incident investigation into Freshservice, aiming to help IT teams diagnose outages faster and prevent repeat disruptions.

Robusta works like an AI site reliability engineer. It groups duplicate alerts, filters noise, investigates telemetry and recent changes, and identifies likely causes. Engineers remain in control of production changes.

The Real Bet Is Root Cause
Most IT tools report that something broke. Freshworks wants AI to explain why, carry that evidence into the response workflow, and help prevent the same failure from returning.

Freshworks plans to connect that diagnostic intelligence with Freshservice service records and incident orchestration through platforms such as FireHydrant. Evidence and recommended fixes can flow into the teams already coordinating a response.

Robusta also reduces repeated AI investigations by grouping related alerts before analyzing them. That matters when a large outage triggers hundreds of notifications but only a handful of underlying problems.

The acquisition is complete, though Freshworks did not state a purchase price in its announcement. Integration work is still ahead, with incident histories and change records intended to inform future safeguards.

The key test: whether every resolved outage makes the next one less likely.
