LE PERSPECTIVE / THE STORY

fal disclosed a combined $1.65 billion across its Series E and Series F rounds, signaling a bigger investor bet on the infrastructure behind AI-generated images, video, audio and 3D content.

Sequoia Capital led Series E and Bessemer Venture Partners led Series F, co-founders Burkay Gür and Gorkem Yurtseven said in a November 3 interview. They did not give a new company valuation.

The Scarce Resource Is Compute
A flashy model gets attention, but producing millions of images and videos reliably is what customers pay for. As creation becomes routine, the platform that delivers it may capture more value than individual apps.

The Business Behind the Videos

fal gives developers and companies access to generative media models through an API and the infrastructure needed to run them. Its customers can use multiple models without building a separate serving stack for each one.

The founders said image and video now each contribute roughly half of company revenue. Video previously reached about 70%, before image editing brought image demand back. They also described professionals spending $10,000 to $20,000 a month on generative media.

Why Investors Care About Inference

Generative video needs expensive computing power, and capacity remains difficult to secure. Yurtseven said demand grew even as prices for some video-generation models increased sharply, suggesting professional customers were willing to pay for output they could actually use.

The company started in 2021 with Python data infrastructure before focusing on generative media. Its December 2025 Series D raised $140 million, and its latest disclosure is far larger.

The practical question for fal now is how efficiently it can deliver growing volumes of media generation. Winning does not require owning every breakthrough model; it requires being the place customers can run them.
